Position Summary:
The Associate Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist supports the EHS department in all work and processes for the department and is responsible to coordinate EHS programs for the Asia Pacific, Japan & Greater China region, helping to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations and effective risk management. The vision for Illumina is that every Illumina employee will be a leader in EHS. This position reports to the EHS Manager, Greater China region.
Position Responsibilities:
Support the regional EHS Manager and EHS Specialists on regional EHS programs and arrangements, including those applicable to commercial sites and remote workers.
Coordinate EHS activities and programs (i.e. fire protection system testing, environmental and industrial hygiene monitoring) according to schedule
Oversight of maintenance and inspection records of safety related items (eg fire protection equipment), first aid supplies, AED)
Coordinate and maintain records of EHS related trainings (emergency drills, new hire orientation etc.) across the region as required
Conduct and maintain records of EHS incidents, near misses, hazards and inspections, utilizing the Illumina incident reporting system.
Participate in EHS committee meetings and EHS internal and external audits as required.
Assist in the reporting and closure of EHS actions related to various EHS programs (e.g. safety walkthrough, risk assessments, incident reporting and investigation, internal audits, etc.)
Other projects and activities as assigned and or needed

Position Requirements:
Preferred 1-2 years of EHS experience in a biotech/pharmaceutical or relevant industry.
Knowledge in ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 and ISO 45001 management system is a plus.
Initiative with good sense of responsibility, drive and independence
Must be a committed and good team player
Ability to work independently and with all levels
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong English language skills.
Strong analytical and interpersonal skills
Preferred Experience/Education/Skills:
Degree or diploma in Workplace Safety and Health/ Occupational Health and Safety or Engineering preferred but not essential.
Preferred Certifications in CERT, HAZMAT, managing work at heights will be an advantage
