Lead Software Engineer

Whats the role?
This role combines technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and collaborative teamwork to create impactful software solutions in a fast-paced, cutting-edge environment.

• Develop, extend, and maintain software products in an innovative and iteratively growing environment.
• Software development of application or system components.
• Investigation and root cause analysis of software and system defects.
• Maintain and run tools and processes that support and automate software product release.
• Understand the technical aspects of the products used to support the configuration management activities of the development process.
• Adapt configuration management tools for the complex needs of the development team or the management of the development process.
• Deploy the development artifacts to a staging area for release to production and enforce process compliance.
• Create and execute approved test plans, analyze and report results.
• Collaborate in a team environment across multiple research and engineering disciplines and make architectural trade-offs required to rapidly deliver software solutions.

Who are you?

• Education: Bachelors in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or MIS.
• Experience: 7+ years in software development.
• Technical Skills:
  • Proficient in Java/J2EE, Spring, Python, and XML.
  • Strong front-end skills (JavaScript, CSS, HTML) and experience with AngularJS.
  • Hands-on experience with MySQL, Postgres, or Oracle.
  • Knowledge of Web Services, JSON, JUnit, PL/SQL, Maven, and AWS (preferred).
  • Familiarity with Unix/Linux and version control tools (GIT, Subversion, etc.).
• Agile Practices: TDD, Pair Programming, Continuous Integration.
• Soft Skills:
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Self-driven, creative, and adaptable problem-solver.
• Preferred: Experience with GIS data, NoSQL (e.g., DynamoDB, MongoDB), Kubernetes, Docker, or Scala.
