Project Controller

Work Location : Guindy, Chennai

Position Summary :

The Project Controller will play a pivotal role in supporting our global projects by ensuring financial discipline, timely execution, and strategic resource allocation. This position demands a blend of expertise in cost control, project scheduling, budget management, and proficiency in SAP. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in the EPCM sector, demonstrating the ability to navigate complex project landscapes effectively.

Role & responsibilities :

• Create new projects in SAP based on the defined scope and objectives.
• Coordinate with Project Managers to gather and consolidate project requirements.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive project schedules, ensuring alignment with project milestones and objectives. Work with project team and planners to carry out delay analysis and submission of extension of time claims, if required.
• Implement robust cost control mechanisms to monitor and report on project expenditures, identifying variances and recommending corrective actions.
• Manpower forecasting for all projects and ensuring regular update and reporting
• Collaborate with project managers and finance teams to prepare, update, and manage project budgets, ensuring optimal allocation of resources.
• Coordinate with project team, finance and procurement team do revenue forecasting and track and update the same periodically.
• Utilize SAP for project reporting, cost tracking, and financial forecasting, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
• Identify opportunities for improvement in business reporting and devise reporting templates, if necessary.
• Work closely with finance and project management teams to ensure accuracy and alignment in cost forecast numbers.
• Collaborate with the project team in identifying risk and opportunities and do realignment of cost and revenue forecast in line with the same.
• Regularly update project plans and budgets as required.
• Develop and implement WBS structures within SAP for new and ongoing projects.
• Prepare comprehensive weekly and monthly project reports.
• Ensure that all documents are current, accurately categorized, and easily accessible.
• Support the PMO in establishing best practices, tools, and methodologies for project planning, execution, and control.
• Work collaboratively with project teams and stakeholders

Preferred candidate profile

• 7-10 years of experience in project control or project management within the EPCM industry.
• Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in a PMO environment with SAP project systems or similar ERP software
• Proficient in project planning and WBS structuring
• Demonstrated expertise in cost control, budget management, and project scheduling.
• Proficient in SAP and familiar with other project management software.
• Strong understanding of project management principles and practices4
• Familiarity with timesheet administration and resource management practices.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for a global, multicultural environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
• Fluent in English, both spoken and written. Additional language skills are a plus.
