The role will focus on sourcing and analysing data, creating models, preparing data-driven reports, and deriving insights to support business decisions for the Indian power market. The selected candidate will be part of a team that will work with utilities, commercial and industrial clients, and other stakeholders in the power market to develop models for varied problem statements.Power market models will include short to medium-term fundamental models, statistical models, and ML models for forecasting demand, supply, prices, and other parameters to enable decision-making for power market participants. Such models will incorporate factors for existing market structure, anticipated market designs, and policy directions.This role will involve hands-on work in developing models, working with a team on different technical aspects, engaging with clients, and managing overall project delivery.
Work with clients to scope engagements, prepare project execution plans; manage overall project delivery and client communication, and handle client feedback
Collaborate with and provide thought leadership to data engineers, ML engineers, developers, etc.
Stay updated on the latest advancements in research methodologies and modelling techniques.
Execute projects independently and/or as part of a team, including
Collect, preprocess, and analyse large volumes of data to extract meaningful insights and features.
Develop models as per client s problem statement; such models may include ML models, econometric models, optimization problems using linear programming, etc. to cater to specific problem statements
Lead end-to-end implementation of different modelling techniques to capture complex real-world issues within the models.
Monitor model performance in production and implement necessary improvements.
Conduct thorough testing and validation to ensure the reliability and accuracy of deployed models.
Develop and maintain power market knowledge, including news, trends and developments.
4-5 years of experience working on power planning software such as Plexos.
Strong quantitative modelling skills.
Working knowledge of Python and SQL.
Strong understanding of energy markets, regulatory framework, power plant operations, renewable energy concepts, demand side management, resource planning for utilities.
Good knowledge of creating models for power planning and or creating models for demand/supply analysis for any commodity.
Bachelor s or Master s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, finance, or related field.
