Data Scientist - SQL/Python (0-2 yrs)

Role and Responsibilities :

We are looking to hire a data engineer to join our team, responsible for building and improving the data infrastructure behind our internal insights engine.

As part of our small and driven team, you'll have the opportunity to work across web development, data analysis, machine learning, and data engineering projects, with significant autonomy to drive initiatives forward.

Build and maintain data pipeline (50%):

- Automate data ingestion and processing across firm wide sources with a focus on natural language datasets (company filings, interviews, research reports)

- Ensure data quality, reliability, and performance of ETL processes

- Implement monitoring and alerting systems for data pipeline health

Machine Learning & Analytics Implementation (30%)

- Test and build models to improve or quantify Kora's knowledge discovery and investment processes

- Collaborate with research and investment team members to translate business requirements into technical solutions

Build and analyze web-scrapers (10%) :

- Build systems to collect, process and visualize data scraped from websites. APIs and RSS feeds

- Maintain existing scrapers

Ad hoc data analysis (10%)

- Analysis and summarization of datasets to answer research questions on current or prospective portfolio companies

Required Qualifications :

- 0-2 years of professional software development experience with focus on data engineering

- Strong proficiency in Python for data processing and analysis

- Advanced SQL skills with experience in optimization and complex queries

- Basic understanding of AWS cloud services and architecture

- Working knowledge of JavaScript for web development
