Role & responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Application Development:
• Design, develop, and implement GIS-based applications using technologies such as Esri ArcGIS, QGIS, or Open Layers.
• Create web and mobile GIS solutions using JavaScript, Python, and GIS-specific libraries (e.g., ArcGIS API for JavaScript, Leaflet, Map box).
• Spatial Data Management:
• Integrate, analyse, and visualize geospatial data from various sources.
• Manage spatial databases using tools like PostgreSQL/PostGIS, SQL Server, or Oracle Spatial.
• Customization and Optimization:
• Customize GIS software to meet specific user requirements.
• Optimize application performance for handling large-scale geospatial datasets.
• API Integration:
• Develop and integrate GIS applications with REST APIs or web services.
• Implement geocoding, routing, and spatial analysis services.
• Collaboration:
• Work closely with data analysts, cartographers, and business stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver solutions.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum meetings to ensure timely project delivery.
• Troubleshooting:
  Debug and resolve technical issues, optimize application performance, and implement improvements.

Preferred candidate profile

• Technical Expertise:
• Proficiency in GIS software such as Esri ArcGIS, QGIS, or MapInfo.
• Strong programming skills in .net, JavaScript, or other relevant languages.
• Experience with web development technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks like Angular/React).
• Knowledge of geospatial libraries (e.g., GDAL, Shapely, GeoPandas).
• Spatial Data Management:
• Proficiency in spatial databases like PostgreSQL/PostGIS, SQL Server Spatial, or Oracle Spatial.
• Ability to handle raster and vector data formats (e.g., GeoJSON, Shapefiles, TIFF).
• Geospatial Analysis:
• Experience in spatial analysis, geoprocessing, and creating geospatial visualizations.
