Job Description: Regional Sales Manager - Karnataka (B2B & B2C)

Company: GEM Edible Oils Pvt. Ltd.
Location: Karnataka
Reports to: NSM

Position Overview:

GEM Edible Oils Pvt. Ltd. is a leading player in the edible oil industry, committed to providing high-quality products to both businesses (B2B) and consumers (B2C). The Regional Sales Manager (RSM) for Karnataka will be responsible for managing and expanding sales across the state, driving both B2B and B2C channels, and ensuring the overall growth of the company's presence in the region.


Key Responsibilities:


1. Sales Strategy & Execution:

  • Develop and implement the regional sales strategy for Karnataka to achieve sales targets in both B2B and B2C segments.
  • Collaborate with senior management to align the regions sales strategy with overall business goals.
  • Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape to adapt sales strategies.

2. B2B Sales Management:

  • Identify and develop relationships with key B2B customers, including wholesalers, retailers, and foodservice providers.
  • Build long-term partnerships with businesses that require bulk edible oil supplies.
  • Negotiate and close high-value contracts with B2B clients.
  • Monitor and manage key accounts, ensuring client satisfaction and repeat business.

3. B2C Sales Growth:

  • Develop and implement marketing and promotional strategies to drive consumer sales across the region.
  • Establish relationships with distributors, retailers, and key grocery chains to ensure product availability and visibility.
  • Coordinate with the marketing team to run campaigns aimed at increasing brand awareness and consumer loyalty.
  • Ensure strong shelf presence and optimal distribution in retail outlets.

4. Team Leadership & Development:

  • Lead, manage, and motivate the regional sales team to ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Set clear performance goals and KPIs for sales representatives.
  • Conduct regular training sessions and performance reviews for the sales team.
  • Provide guidance and support to overcome challenges in the field and drive team success.

5. Relationship Building & Networking:

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key business partners, industry associations, and distributors.
  • Attend industry events, trade shows, and networking activities to represent GEM Edible Oils and expand business opportunities.
  • Build rapport with local influencers, chefs, and food bloggers to promote the brand in B2C.

6. Sales Reporting & Analysis:

  • Monitor sales performance, track revenue, and prepare detailed reports on regional sales progress.
  • Use sales analytics and data-driven insights to adjust strategies and improve overall performance.
  • Provide regular updates to senior management on sales achievements, challenges, and market dynamics.

7. Market Expansion:

  • Identify and capitalize on opportunities for market expansion in new regions and untapped areas of Karnataka.
  • Research and explore new channels, customer segments, and potential business partnerships.

8. Operational Efficiency:

  • Collaborate with logistics and supply chain teams to ensure timely and efficient product delivery to customers.
  • Resolve issues related to product shortages, delivery delays, or customer complaints quickly and effectively.


Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field. MBA is a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum 10 years of experience in B2B and B2C sales, preferably only within the FMCG or edible oil industry.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven track record of managing and motivating sales teams.
  • Negotiation Skills: Strong negotiation and deal-closing capabilities.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and presentation skills in both English and Kannada (or other regional languages).
  • Market Knowledge: In-depth understanding of the Karnataka market, especially the edible oil sector, with a good network of distributors and retailers.
  • Tech-Savvy: Proficiency in CRM software (e.g., Salesforce) and Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of ERP systems is a plus.
  • Driving Results: Ability to work independently, drive results, and achieve sales targets in a competitive market.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in managing both traditional retail and modern trade channels.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with marketing, supply chain, and product teams.
  • Familiarity with regional and national consumer trends, customer behavior, and preferences.
