Role & responsibilities

The Product Quality Manager will provide leadership for the FTC Solar Quality & Reliability organizations to facilitate improvements in all aspects of product certifications; this role will take their key direction from the Director of Quality. Deploy, lead and improve Product certifications and the respective processes that align with FTC Solars strategy and critical success factors. Partner with Research & Development, Applications Engineering, Reliability, Sales, Sales Engineering and Operations to ensure alignment of goals and objectives. Develop, implement and sustain a responsive and collaborative partnership to intake and prioritize projects. Design and execute a forward looking certification strategy that follows industry trends. Job Duties:

• Technical lead to design and coordinate certification plans. Responsible to determine, plan and ensure product compliance to required national and international codes and standards.
• Establish and maintain an effective product quality and certification program, defining and executing experiments, planning detail tasks, specify output data formats and guidelines,
• establish crucial dates and dependencies by identifying key elements and managing projects efficiently.
• Ensure on-time certification and m aximize first time success rate in certifications.
• Manage in house and external testing to secure compliance for existing and new product lines and manage good working relationships with certifying bodies, and other relevant standards organizations. Determine and secure necessary resources and interfaces within and outside of FTC solar.
• Represent FTC solar in regulatory or other related groups (UL) to further prominence of FTC Solar as a leader.
• Complete root cause analysis and evaluating product failures in certifications and other quality test requirements.
• Collaborate with suppliers and third parties to determine root cause of pandemic failures and establish mitigation and CAPA measures.
• Utilize data analysis using tools such as Excel, Jmp, PowerBI, Tableau etc. Utilize python scripts, ML where possible for automation.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree (or equivalent) in engineering or sciences
• Two (2) to seven (7) years of progressive experience in photovoltaics/renewable energy desired
• Strong knowledge of Standards such as UL, IEC, CSA, CE, ISO, etc, especially in the area of photovoltaics
• Familiarity with ASCE codes applicable to PV installations (such as ASCE 7) is desired
• Advanced skills and experience with MS office, databases, data mining and statistics required.

• Six Sigma, TOC, project management expertise - training, application and/or certification desired.
