Job Description

As a Database Base Expert, you will be expected to Coordinate and manage database activities to support application development projects. Work with programmers, QA team and security personnel to execute database projects according to customer requirements.

Provide functional and technical support to ensure performance, operation, and stability of database systems, respond to database related queries and issues in a timely fashion, monitor database activities on daily basis to ensure the reliability and security of databases. Prepare database reports for managers as needed. Monitor database performance, implement changes and check on new patches and versions when required

Primary Skills

1. MySQL

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain MySQL databases with optimal performance.
• Experience with cloud-based database services (AWS RDS).
• Write efficient SQL queries, stored procedures, and triggers.
• Perform database tuning, optimization, and ensure high availability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, including performance bottlenecks, deadlocks, and connection issues.
• Coordinate and execute database upgrades, migrations, and patching while ensuring minimal downtime and no data loss.
• Work with development teams to integrate MySQL databases with back-end applications and services.
• Work with business analysts and project managers to translate business requirements into effective database solutions.
• Maintain documentation for all database processes, configurations, and standards.
• Monitor database performance and implement optimizations such as indexing, query optimization, and data partitioning to improve response times.
• Perform regular database health checks, identifying and resolving bottlenecks to ensure high availability and reliability.

2. MongoDB

Key Responsibilities:

• Good understanding of NoSQL principles and concepts, particularly in document-based databases.
• Design, develop, and optimize MongoDB database systems for scalable and high-performance applications.
• Good Knowledge in designing MongoDB data models, collections, and indexes.
• Familiarity with MongoDB Atlas Search.
• Conduct data migration and transformation from relational databases or other systems to MongoDB.
• Work with development teams to integrate MongoDB databases with back-end services and applications.
• Optimize database performance by analyzing query performance, creating indexes, and implementing shrading strategies.
• Monitor and manage the health of MongoDB clusters, ensuring high availability and fault tolerance.

3. AWS RDS knowledge

Key Responsibilities:

• Good experience managing databases on AWS, particularly with Amazon RDS, Amazon Aurora, and EC2.
• Good understanding of AWS services such as EC2, RDS, S3, IAM and CloudWatch.
• Experience with CloudWatch Logs for tracking and troubleshooting database logs, and CloudWatch Alarms for setting thresholds on key database metrics such as CPU utilization, memory usage, I/O operations, and latency.

1. Amazon Redshift and PostgreSQL experience will be an additional advantage
