Planned Maintenance Officer (PMSO)

1. Coordinates the preparation of hardware and software for the vessel installation with various parties – Technical Officers, Superintendent, IT Department, vessel etc. - and, where appropriate, performs the installation on board the vessel.
   
2. Maintains a record of the on board hardware and software and monitors the day to day performance of the PMS on board the vessels. Provides the vessels and Fleet team staff with support and investigates faults when required.
   
3. Conducts upgrades to the on board software and hardware and attends the vessel should this be required. Supports the installation and implementation of advanced predictive maintenance systems.
   
4. Assist with the support of other on board computer networks, particularly during ship visits.
   
5. Provides support for the office based system and works with the IT department and system designers in ensuring reliability of operation.
   
6. Provides statistics regarding the standard of on board implementation and produces records for the purpose of BSM Corporate reporting. Conducts audits of the vessels PMS as and when required.
   
7. Assists the Technical Superintendent with the preparation of the vessel budget related to computer hardware and software.
   
8. Ensures consistency of the PMS across the managed fleet and, in particular, sister vessels under management.
   
9. P rovides support to the Technical department on an ad hoc basis or for specific projects.
   
10. Provides training in using the PMS to sea staff on board the vessels, in seminars, fleet officer meetings and during office visits.
    
11. Conducts training for office staff when required and provides updates regarding developments or upgrading to the system.
    
12. Attends BSM and software provider user seminars concerning the PMS and disseminates information obtained from these forums.
    

Requirements

Education & Qualifications:

• 3rd Engineer License or BSc Marine Engineering
  

Work Experience:

• Past experience will be considered as an advantage
  

Job-Specific Skills:

• Very good knowledge of vessels’ technical requirements, maintenance and survey procedures
  
• Very good communication skills
  
• Strong organisational and project management skills
  
• Fluency in English
  
• Very good knowledge of PC computer hardware and associated PMS software
