In this role, you will:

• Lead design of new features in a highly distributed, large scale, global platform that has a direct impact on the business, and on the experience of Expedia Group customers and partners.

• Mentor team members across multiple workstreams and lead stakeholder communication with product owners, operations, partner tech teams, and business leaders.

• Take architectural ownership of critical components and systems, aligning the architecture of the Partner Connectivity platform with the overall Expedia Group vision.

• Write stable, high-quality code to enhance existing service features, with a strong focus on operational aspects such as performance tuning, monitoring, and fault tolerance.

• Prototype creative solutions quickly and take projects from prototype to production quality.

• Demonstrate leadership by mentoring others, establishing standards in documentation and clean code, and setting a professional example for the team.

• Communicate and document solutions and design decisions effectively.

• Evaluate and recommend tools, technologies, and efficient processes.

• Learn and implement best practices to continually raise the bar in terms of engineering excellence.

• Collaborate with technologists across Expedia Group to solve problems collectively.

• Step in for peer engineering directors as needed, coordinating technical next steps with engineering management.

• Develop a north star vision for your domain, mastering software design best practices, shaping coding methodologies, and evangelizing new platform technologies.

• Possess deep knowledge of the entire system, able to jump into any component to troubleshoot and contribute.

• Make informed decisions on product technology direction based on deep subject matter knowledge.

Experience and qualifications:

• 12+ years of experience developing production-quality code in a professional software engineering role.

• Bachelors degree in computer science or a related technical field.

• Proven experience working as a Backend Developer.

• Experience with cloud-based technologies like AWS and distributed real-time processing systems.

• Proficiency in Java and Kotlin.

• Track record of building test automation and reporting tools to ensure high quality.

• Experience with Agile Methodology.

• Proven success in delivering high-quality, distributed services with large transaction volumes on a 24x7 operational cycle.

• Knowledge of performance testing, application tuning, and load testing.

• Excellent organizational and communication skills.

• Self-starter who is self-driven and takes pride in the development work of their team.

• Experience mentoring other engineers (Individual Contributor I, II, III; Sr. Developers) in the organization.

• Participated in peer performance reviews by providing technical assessments and feedback.

• Presented new technology choices to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Established standards for operational excellence and code quality at a multi-project level.
