IBM DB2 DBA

Experienced Senior Database Administrator (DBA) with a minimum of 8-10 years of hands-on

experience in managing, optimizing, and supporting multiple database platforms, including DB2, Oracle (Good to have), PostgreSQL and MS SQL Server ( On Prem and Azure ) . The ideal candidate will be a seasoned professional with deep technical expertise in database administration, performance tuning, high availability solutions, and disaster recovery, combined with strong leadership and mentoring skills to guide a team of DBAs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Database Management: Administer and manage DB2, Oracle, PostgreSQL and MS SQL Server databases across development, test, and production environments.
• Performance Tuning: Monitor, analyze, and optimize database performance, including query

optimization, index tuning, and resource allocation across all platforms (DB2, Oracle, SQL
Server and PostgreSQL).

• Backup & Recovery: Implement, manage, and test backup and recovery strategies for all

supported database platforms to ensure data integrity and business continuity.

• High Availability & Disaster Recovery: Design and implement high availability solutions and

disaster recovery strategies using tools such as DB2 HADR, Oracle Data Guard, and MS SQL

Server Always On.

• Database Security: Manage database security, including user access controls, encryption, and audit logs across all platforms to ensure compliance with security and privacy regulations.
• Automation & Scripting: Develop and maintain automation scripts for routine DBA tasks (e.g.,

backups, patching, monitoring) using scripting languages such as Shell, PowerShell.

• Database Migration & Upgrades: Lead and assist in database version upgrades, migrations, and patching across DB2, Oracle, and MS SQL Server environments.
• Database Architecture: Design and implement database schemas, tables, stored procedures,

and views to support business applications and ensure data integrity and performance.

• Troubleshooting & Incident Resolution: Diagnose and resolve complex database issues,

including performance bottlenecks, data corruption, and outages.

• Capacity Planning: Perform database sizing and capacity planning to ensure systems scale

effectively with growing data needs.

• Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with development teams, system administrators,
  and other stakeholders to ensure optimal database performance and support business

requirements.
