Engineer - Structures (Water & Wastewater)

Role Summary:

WSP is growing and has a virtual opportunity for a Structural Engineer from India to join our Water & Wastewater Facilities Structural Team located in Thornhill, Ontario. As an engineer with us, you will be part of our growing team, using your skills and engineering expertise to design and partner with other disciplines on major infrastructure projects in Canada from coast to coast.

Roles & Responsibilities:

As a Structural Engineer, you ll play a vital role in our team, collaborating with industry experts to deliver top-notch design projects for a diverse clientele.
What You ll Do:
As a Structural Engineer, you will be an integral part of our dynamic structural team and dive into the intricate world of engineering analysis and designs on water treatment plants, reservoirs, wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, underground liquid retaining tanks, chambers, solid waste management facilities and other type of infrastructures.
Create structural analysis and design models, engineering calculation spreadsheets, hand calculations to the structural components and the entire structure analysis and designs.
Create markups per the analytical results to the BIM modellers and drafters for project productions via Bluebeam software or manual markups.
Possess basic knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes and requirements to structural designs.
Understand waterproofing and other watertight design methodologies, rebar and steel corrosion protection, and durability of the Post-Disaster Importance facilities.
Execute strong English writing skills through preparing compelling proposals, technical memoranda, design reports, condition assessments, and detailed structural design specifications.
Provide consistent support to Project Managers through dynamic project collaboration and meetings with the design team, clients, other consultants, and contractors at various stages of the project.
Work closely with equipment manufacturers and suppliers, incorporating essential design data into our detailed drawings and specifications.
Engage in construction support services, including shop drawing reviews, responding to requests for information (RFIs), change order assessments, and site report reviews.
Tackle project challenges head-on by managing budgets, schedules, and any unforeseen issues.
Review design documents meticulously, ensuring compliance with Canadian engineering standards, codes, and best practices.
Facilitate seamless collaboration between design and construction teams.

Key Competencies / Skills / Qualifications:

A Master s Degree in Structural Engineering is preferred. Your educational foundation sets the stage for success.
Experience: You bring a minimum of 5-10 years in design projects across India or overseas, and you ve honed your skills and know the ropes.
Codes and Standards: You will be familiar with relevant codes and standards, including IBC, OBC, NBCC, CSA A23.1/2, CSA A23.3. CSA S16, CSA S900.2, ACI 350, etc., and related codes and standards in India.
Tech Savvy: Your toolbox includes the popular structural analysis and design software, such as Staad. Pro., S-Frame series, and CSI series software. Basic knowledge of BIM360 and REVIT.
Project Pro: Your track record speaks volumes successful project coordination, management, and timely delivery.
