Job Description:
- Stock and Sector Analysis: Responsible for tracking multiple stocks and sectors assigned by the client or in-house project manager. This includes monitoring and analyzing company-specific news, events, and developments that could impact stock performance. The analyst should also stay up-to-date with macroeconomic trends, tracking key data such as interest rates, inflation, and GDP growth to provide a comprehensive view of the sectors.
- Report Writing: Write detailed reports such as initiation reports, earnings updates, and sectoral analyses. These reports should not only summarize financial performance but also identify ongoing market themes, sector trends, and potential risks or opportunities. Regularly interact with clients, lead analysts, or internal teams to share insights, opinions, and forecasts, ensuring alignment on investment strategies.
- Financial Modeling: Develop and maintain robust financial models from scratch for both listed and pre-IPO companies. The analyst will use these models to forecast future financial performance, evaluate valuation metrics such as DCF, PE ratios, and enterprise value, and analyze financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement). Regular model updates will be required following new earnings releases or major announcements.
- Conference Call Participation: Attend earnings calls, industry conferences, and webinars to gather insights directly from company management, analysts, and industry experts. Afterward, share summary notes and key takeaways with the in-house project manager and assigned clients to ensure they are well-informed about the latest developments.
- Client Communication and Project Management: Maintain consistent communication with the project manager or assigned client to provide regular updates on the progress of ongoing projects. The role also involves collaborating with in-house project managers on various ad-hoc tasks, including data collection, updating financial models, performing deep-dive secondary research, or writing thematic reports on industries and sectors.
- Timely and High-Quality Deliverables: Ensure that all assigned tasks, whether research, model updates, or report writing, are completed within agreed-upon timelines and meet high-quality standards, aligning with the expectations of clients. The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously is critical to success in this role.
- Internal Knowledge Sharing: Actively contribute to the internal knowledge base by sharing insights and conducting ad-hoc research assignments. This might include preparing presentations, whitepapers, or research notes for internal or client use, further strengthening SG Analytics' knowledge pool and service offerings.
- Database Management: The role requires strong familiarity with financial databases and tools such as Bloomberg, Refinitiv Eikon, and similar platforms. The analyst should leverage these tools to gather real-time data, perform stock screening, analyze historical trends, and support investment recommendations.
- Data-Driven Insights: Provide data-driven recommendations based on both qualitative and quantitative analysis. This includes understanding industry dynamics, competitive positioning, and company fundamentals to support actionable investment decisions. Analysts should be able to identify key drivers of stock performance, such as revenue growth, margin expansion, and cash flow generation, and communicate these effectively to clients.
- Market and Industry Research: Conduct comprehensive market and industry research, exploring competitive landscapes, regulatory developments, and emerging trends. Use these insights to provide clients with a forward-looking view on sectors, helping them make informed decisions about their investments.
- Continuous Learning and Development: Stay up to date with the latest trends, tools, and methodologies in equity research, financial modeling, and macroeconomic analysis. Regularly attend training sessions, read industry reports, and participate in knowledge-sharing forums to refine your skill set.
