Operational Auditor

Role & responsibilities

Job Summary:

The Operational Auditor will be responsible for assessing the operational effectiveness, compliance with internal policies, and ensuring that the financial transactions and records align with industry standards and regulations. This role involves evaluating the efficiency of customer accounting systems, managing the accuracy of Management Information Systems (MIS), and identifying opportunities for process automation to enhance operational efficiency. The Operational Auditor will support the companys internal audit function and drive continuous improvements in internal controls, risk management, and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Internal Audit & Compliance:

• Conduct regular operational audits across different functions of the NBFC to assess the effectiveness and efficiency of internal controls and compliance with relevant financial regulations and company policies.
• Evaluate the adequacy of risk management practices and recommend improvements to mitigate operational risks.
• Assess and ensure compliance with all relevant statutory and regulatory requirements (e.g., RBI guidelines, SEBI regulations, etc.).
• Prepare detailed audit reports, highlighting findings, recommendations, and corrective actions for management.
• Track the implementation of audit recommendations and ensure timely resolution of audit issues.

Customer Accounting:

• Review and analyze customer accounting processes, including loan disbursements, repayments, and interest calculations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
• Monitor and audit customer account records to ensure the integrity of the financial data and prevent errors, fraud, or mismanagement.
• Collaborate with the finance team to identify areas for improvement in customer accounting and streamline processes.

Management Information Systems (MIS):

• Evaluate the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of MIS reports to support management decision-making.
• Review the data quality and integrity in MIS reports and ensure alignment with operational data and financial reports.
• Identify gaps or inefficiencies in the reporting process and propose solutions for improvement.
• Work closely with the IT department to ensure that MIS systems are updated and functioning optimally.

Process Automation:

• Identify opportunities to automate operational processes to reduce manual efforts, improve efficiency, and minimize errors.
• Recommend tools, systems, or software solutions to enhance process automation and integration across departments.
• Collaborate with relevant teams (IT, Operations, Compliance) to implement automation solutions and monitor their effectiveness.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives through automation, improving workflow and internal controls.

General:

• Keep abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices related to internal auditing, financial compliance, and operational excellence.
• Provide support for special audits or investigations as required by management.
• Assist in preparing for external audits and coordinate with external auditors during the audit process.
• Train and mentor junior audit staff, providing guidance on audit methodologies and best practices.

Preferred candidate profile

Qualified CA with min 8 years of experience in NBFC Operations mainly in Customer Accounting & Operational Compliances.
