The Technician Helper is responsible for assisting in various tasks related to inspecting, installing, and maintaining pipes and electrical systems. The role involves supporting experienced professionals in their daily duties and gaining hands-on experience in the plumbing and electrical trade.
Responsibilities:
Inspect pipes and piping systems to assess their quality and condition.
Assist in installing underground storm, sanitary sewer, irrigation systems, and water piping systems.
Use couplings, clamps, and screws to assemble pipe sections, tubing, and fittings.
Fill plumbing fixtures and pipes with water or air to detect and locate leaks.
Assist in drilling and cutting holes in walls and floors to accommodate the passage of pipes.
Work with experienced professionals to select the appropriate type and size of piping required for each project.
Maintain an excellent attendance record, consistently arriving at work on time.
Assist in completing system installations, including digging trenches and breaking up concrete as needed.
Work under the supervision of a Journeyman Electrician to learn the trade and develop electrical knowledge.
Assist in repairing light fixtures, controls, switches, relays, and circuit breaker panels based on detailed evaluations.
Help repair systems and replace malfunctioning parts, while providing support for electrical installations.
Safely install new electrical components and fixtures, and assist in testing systems to enhance power flow.
Qualifications and Skills:
Basic understanding of plumbing and electrical principles is preferred.
Physical fitness and the ability to perform manual labour, including digging and lifting heavy objects.
Willingness to learn and follow instructions from experienced professionals.
Good communication skills and working well in a team environment.
Punctuality and a strong work ethic.
Prior experience in a similar role or relevant vocational training is a plus but not required.
