Lead Engineer - Metallurgy

Eaton Research Labs at Eaton India Innovation Center is looking for a Lead Engineer - Materials to be part of their Center for Materials and Manufacturing. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting research and developing technologies to provide solutions on materials and metallurgical process selections to support Eatons product development.
"- Identify Materials and Mfg. process technology gaps and propose solutions on maturing new technologies with high performance Materials relevant to next generation technology strategy such as electrification, sustainability, Advanced manufacturing etc.
- Develop proposals and present new ideas to business to secure funding
- Problem solving across the spectrum of innovation, development, and implementation of material and Mfg. process technologies that can increase product performance, life / durability, and / or reduce product cost.
- Develop strong business relations across organization to understand critical business problems that require Materials and manufacturing based solutions
- as technical lead, use program management skills and practices to coordinate activities with other engineering resources, cross functional teams, external partners, and ecosystem to ensure timely completion of the project milestones utilizing our internal project execution processes, including Gate Reviews, Design Reviews, and technical Reviews.
- Actively contributes high quality IP that has business and technology importance.
- Participates and presents in internal innovation and ideation events.
- Identifies open innovation opportunities with universities and external institutes that align with relevant technological areas.
- Leverage lab equipment for Advanced material characterization and microstructural analysis for research as well as to support business groups for Cost out, Root cause analysis, qualifying new supplier and material to manufacture prototypes and production parts.
- Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting the assigned project.
- Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments.
- Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures. "

MTech/PhD in materials science and engineering
MTech with 8+ years of relevant experience in research and development or PhD with 4+ years of relevant experience in research and development

" Strong knowledge of Physical metallurgy, Mechanical metallurgy, Structure-Property correlations, advanced characterization including EBSD, WDS, XRD, Metallurgical manufacturing processes
Exposure of advanced high-performance metals, metal matrix composites, additive manufacturing process"
" Self-motivated; Passionate to bring own ideas to applications.
Networking ability across organization to understand critical business problems that require materials and manufacturing based solutions
Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
Good interpersonal skills - flexibility to adapt to persons with different geographical, ethnic, educational backgrounds.
Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs. Established project management skills while handling multiple projects"
