Duties & Responsibilities
- Serves as lead engineer on mid- to large size projects.
- Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.
- Approves and signs off on work.
- Provides technical expertise for studies and design efforts.
- Presents complex technical solutions to clients.
- Performs quality control reviews of work developed by others.
- Participates in development of technical proposals.
- Provides estimates for the engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements on large projects.
- Oversees and coordinates HVAC system design for complex projects.
- Develops and implements energy-efficient HVAC solutions.
- Mentors and guides junior engineers in HVAC design principles.
- Ensures compliance with local and national building codes and regulations.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams to integrate HVAC systems with other building components.
- Conducts site visits to assess existing HVAC systems and recommend improvements.
- Stays current with industry trends and emerging technologies in HVAC design.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field + 15years of relevant experience, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Professional Engineering (PE) license in HVAC
- Extensive knowledge of HVAC systems, design principles, and energy-efficient solutions
- Proficiency in HVAC design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Trane TRACE)
- Strong understanding of building codes and ASHRAE standards
- Excellent project management and leadership skills
- Superior communication and presentation abilities
- Demonstrated experience in managing mid to large-size HVAC projects
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- LEED AP certification
- Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM)
- Knowledge of sustainable design practices and renewable energy systems
- Familiarity with commissioning processes
- Experience in mentoring junior engineers
- Active participation in professional organizations (e.g., ASHRAE, USGBC)
