VP/Director - Category Management

Role:
As a VP/Director - Category Management, you will take full ownership of category performance, driving strategic initiatives to enhance growth, profitability, and customer experience. You will play a key role in P&L management, competitive analysis, pricing strategy, merchandising, and vendor relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
- End-to-End Category Management: Drive category growth, optimize pricing strategies, and ensure profitability.
- P&L Ownership: Own revenue, margin, and profitability for key categories, ensuring optimal inventory and pricing strategies.
- Market & Competitive Analysis: Conduct market sizing, identify industry trends, and analyze competitive positioning to improve category performance.
- Customer-Centric Approach: Enhance the shopping experience by optimizing filters, product placements, and UX.
- Category Visibility & Merchandising: Boost discoverability of top-selling products through strategic promotions, SEO, and digital marketing.
- Promotional Planning: Design and execute targeted marketing campaigns, seasonal promotions, and exclusive product launches to increase sales.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Leverage analytics to identify trends, improve conversion rates, and enhance category performance.
- Strategic Vendor & Merchant Management: Build strong relationships with vendors, negotiate pricing, and ensure a seamless supply chain.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product, marketing, finance, and operations teams to drive category success.
- Leadership & Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing category management team.
Preferred Candidate Profile:
- Education: MBA from a top-tier institute (IIMs, ISB, XLRI, FMS, or equivalent) preferred.
- Experience: 10+ years in E-commerce Category Management, P&L ownership, or Strategic Business Roles (preferably in the Automobile, E-commerce, or Marketplace industry).
- Analytical & Data-Driven: Strong analytical skills with expertise in data tools, market research, and business intelligence.
- Strategic Thinker: Proven ability to develop and execute category growth strategies, pricing models, and promotional campaigns.
- Stakeholder Management: Experience in managing external vendors, internal teams, and leadership stakeholders.
- E-commerce & Digital Expertise: Familiarity with online merchandising, consumer behaviour analysis, and conversion optimization.
- Goal-Oriented & High Ownership: Self-motivated leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
