Sr. Design Engineer

Position Title: Sr. Design Engineer

Education: Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering

Responsibilities:

• Design and Drafting: Efficiently use design software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks to create and modify drawings for models and assemblies.
• Design Calculations: Perform design calculations and apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Special Purpose Machines: Design and develop special purpose machines, industrial automation systems, jigs, and fixtures.
• Machine Design: Develop detailed designs for machine tools, fixture systems, and automation equipment, including assembly and sub-assembly designs.
• Layout and Drawings: Prepare comprehensive layouts, assembly drawings, detailed manufacturing drawings, and Bill of Materials (BOM).
• Technical Coordination: Collaborate with production, purchasing, and marketing departments to ensure design feasibility and alignment with project requirements.
• Team Management: Lead and mentor a team of junior engineers and trainees, providing guidance and support as needed.
• Communication: Exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with team members and stakeholders.

Skills and Knowledge:

• Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Experience in the design of pneumatic systems and machine elements.
• Expertise in designing assemblies and sub-assemblies, including automation equipment and special purpose machines.
• Knowledge of GD&T principles.
• Understanding of PLCs, servo motors, and electrical panel design.
• Ability to prepare and interpret technical documentation, including detailed manufacturing drawings and BOM.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting deadlines.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 5 to 8 years of relevant experience in mechanical design and engineering.

Preferred:

• Experience in industrial automation design and the development of special purpose machines.
• Prior experience in handling and leading a team.
