Job Summary:

The Department Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of their assigned department within IBO. This role involves managing staff, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction, driving sales and profitability, and maintaining the overall appearance and functionality of the department. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of the home building and improvement sector, and a customer-focused mindset.

Role & responsibilities:

1. Customer Advocacy & Engagement
   
• Understand category trends and customer needs, acting as their advocate with HO teams for improvement.
• Drive professional and end-customer engagement to enhance in-store experience.
2. Sales & Negotiation
   
• Negotiate effectively with professionals and customers to close sales.
• Ensure category sales, margins, and stock availability by coordinating with Category Managers and Warehouse teams.
3. Operational Excellence
   
• Analyze margins, discount structures, and execute operational processes.
• Resolve customer escalations with root cause analysis and long-term solutions.
4. Inventory & Loss Prevention
   
• Manage inventory and shrinkage within the approved budget.
5. Team Management
   
• Coach and mentor the team to achieve performance goals and ensure customer satisfaction.

Preferred candidate profile

Experience:

• 35 years of retail management experience, preferably in Retail, Home Building, Ceramics, or Sanitaryware. Plywood, & Interior.
• Proven track record in achieving sales targets and managing teams effectively.
