Job Overview

A Dental Assistant plays a vital role in the delivery of dental care by providing support to dentists and ensuring that dental procedures run smoothly and efficiently. This position involves a combination of clinical, administrative, and patient care duties aimed at enhancing the patient experience and ensuring the highest standards of care and safety.

Key Responsibilities

1. Chairside Assistance

• Prepare patients for dental procedures by explaining treatments and ensuring their comfort.
• Assist the dentist during examinations and dental procedures, such as cleanings, fillings, extractions, and other treatments.
• Pass instruments and materials to the dentist as needed.
• Take and record patient medical histories and vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, etc.).
• Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and equipment.
• Maintain and organize the dental operatory to ensure a sterile and clean environment.
• Assist with suctioning, retraction, and other functions during procedures.

2. Radiography and Imaging

• Take dental radiographs (X-rays) as prescribed by the dentist, ensuring proper safety protocols.
• Develop and process X-rays and other diagnostic images.
• Ensure that all radiographic equipment is functioning properly and safely.

3. Patient Care and Education

• Provide post-treatment instructions to patients and ensure they understand aftercare procedures.
• Educate patients about oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and general dental health.
• Ensure that patients feel comfortable and address any concerns or anxieties before and after treatments.

4. Clinical Support and Infection Control

• Clean, disinfect, and sterilize dental instruments and operatory rooms in compliance with infection control protocols.
• Manage inventory and restock supplies such as dental materials, instruments, and personal protective equipment.
• Monitor and ensure compliance with health and safety standards (OSHA regulations, HIPAA privacy rules, etc.).

5. Administrative and Clerical Support

• Schedule and confirm patient appointments.
• Record and update patient information in the dental office management system.
• Maintain patient records, ensuring that medical histories, treatment notes, and billing information are accurately documented.
• Process billing, insurance claims, and patient payments as directed by the office manager or billing department.

6. Additional Responsibilities

• May assist with lab work, including impressions and models for crowns, bridges, dentures, or other dental appliances.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the dentist or office manager.

Qualifications

• Education: 10th or equivalent.
• Experience: Freshers/ Experience
• Understanding of English communication is must.
• Local language will be an additional advantage.
• Immediate joiners preferred.
