Laser Procedures: Ophthalmologists may use lasers for certain eye surgeries and treatments, including laser-assisted cataract surgery and laser therapy for retinal conditions.
Pediatric Ophthalmology: Some Ophthalmologists specialize in pediatric eye care, addressing vision and eye health issues in children.
Treatment of Ocular Infections and Injuries: They manage eye infections, injuries, and trauma, providing medical or surgical treatment as needed.
Ocular Oncology: Ophthalmologists may diagnose and treat ocular tumors, including retinoblastoma and ocular melanoma.
Refractive Surgery: Some Ophthalmologists focus on refractive surgery, helping patients reduce or eliminate their dependence on glasses or contact lenses through procedures like LASIK (Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis).
Ophthalmic Research: Ophthalmologists often engage in clinical research to advance the understanding and treatment of eye-related conditions.
Low Vision Rehabilitation: They provide care for patients with low vision, helping them maximize their remaining vision through aids and strategies.
