Qualifications and Skills :

Technical Expertise :

- 8+ years of experience as an SAP HANA DBA with a strong focus on query optimization.

- In-depth knowledge of SAP HANA architecture, SQL, and database indexing strategies.

- Proven experience with HANA tools such as HANA Studio, HANA Cockpit, or equivalent for query analysis.

Query Optimization :

- Analyze expensive HANA queries using provided statement hash, query details, table information, and index data.

Optimize queries by recommending and implementing appropriate solutions, such as :

- Creating secondary indexes.

- Applying Hints or other SQL tuning techniques.

- Refactoring query structures for efficiency.

- Work closely with development teams to optimize queries within custom Z programs and SAP standard code.

CPU and Memory Optimization :

- Investigate high CPU or memory consumption queries using provided statement hash and additional performance metrics.

- Identify root causes of excessive resource utilization and propose optimization strategies.

- Perform query profiling and recommend improvements to SQL execution plans or database configurations.

Performance Monitoring and Troubleshooting :

- Monitor database performance and proactively identify potential issues.

- Conduct in-depth analysis of long-running or resource-intensive queries and provide detailed optimization plans.

- Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to ensure end-to-end performance optimization.

Performance Tuning :

- Expertise in analyzing SQL execution plans and optimizing complex queries.

- Strong understanding of secondary indexes, hints, and other advanced optimization techniques.

- Experience in reducing CPU and memory usage of HANA queries.

Analytical Skills :

- Ability to diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks in both SAP standard and custom-developed programs.

- Proficiency in correlating database performance metrics with application behavior.

Collaboration and Communication :

- Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with development, application, and infrastructure teams.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to document and share optimization strategies.

Preferred Qualifications :

- Experience with SAP applications such as S/4HANA, BW on HANA, or Suite on HANA.

- Certification in SAP HANA Database Administration.

- Knowledge of ABAP programming to understand custom Z programs and their interactions with HANA queries.
