Piping Engineer

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities -

1.0 Basic Engineering

a) Preparation of PFD, P&ID of General utility services e.g; oxygen, nitrogen, argon, plant grade compressed air,

instrument compressed air etc.

b) High pressure, medium pressure and low-pressure steam services

c) Low pressure fuel gas services e.g; blast furnace gas, coke oven gas, LD gas etc. Other fuel gases or liquid fuel or

semi liquid like propane, natural gas, LDO, coal tar etc.

d) Pipe sizing calculation, pressure drop calculation etc.

e) Selection of equipment or sizing of equipment e.g, compressor, booster, air receiver, driers, buffer vessel,

pressure reducing station etc.

2.0 Detail Design & Engineering –

Preparation of

a) Piping detail scheme, layout, BOQ, Procurement Specifications etc.

b) Piping load data, stress analysis, assignment for structural and civil etc.

c) Piping construction drawings

3.0 Review of structural and civil drawings related to piping or equipment or system

4.0 Equipment or system –

Preparation of Technical specification of :

a) Compressed air station or compressor

b) Low pressure fuel gas boosting station or gas booster

c) Low pressure fuel gas mixing station

d) Expansion bellow

e) Spring support

f) Trap and strainer

5.0 Techno commercial –

Preparation of technical evaluation and technical recommendations with respect to technical as well as commercial

aspect, comparative statement report, bid evaluation etc.

6.0 Meeting with clients and suppliers

7.0 Site visit for collection of data etc.

8.0 Preparation of relevant inputs for DPR/ TEFR related to Piping and General Utilities.

Skills & Competencies –

Experience in basic and detail engineering of piping, system design of general utilities

Steel plant experience is preferrable

Competent in AutoCAD

Knowledge of CAESAR2 is preferable
