Parent Engagement Program Counsellor - DMart Foundation

About the Program:

Parent Engagement Program as the name suggests, engages and works closely with the parents and the related stakeholders of the municipal schools. The aim is to make them well informed of their responsibility towards children and assist them to create a suitable environment for the holistic development of children.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Our team of counselors conduct parent meetings in schools on key topics to address the gap in developmental needs of their children. In these parent meetings, the counselor also gives a better understanding to the parents for improving their parenting skills and creating a healthy atmosphere for the child. Counselors also facilitate an interactive space where parents discuss and share their experiences. Hence, a counselor takes up the role of a facilitator, mentor and a responsible representative of the organization across the municipal schools.

The counselor is expected to visit municipal schools and shall:

1. Build and maintain rapport with the municipal school authorities (Headmaster, Senior teacher, building incharge) to carry out parent meetings in the school
2. Coordinate with the on ground staff members (supervisors and teachers) for organizing and managing the logistics of the meeting
3. Plan and create parent meeting plans (session plan) in collaboration with the other counselors
4. Facilitate parent meetings in a large group set-up and conduct group discussions/activities
5. Maintain the data related to the parent meetings (online and offline)
6. Implement the feedback given by the team to improve the effectiveness of the parent meetings

Qualifications, Work Experience and Skills:

1. Graduate in any field. Preferably, Bachelors/Masters in Social Work (B.S.W/M.S.W) or its equivalent
2. Minimum 10 years of experience in development sector or educational activities with children of low income families (Experience in Child & Parent Outreach programmes and/or Community Mobilization is preferred)
3. Spoken and written fluency of language (Marathi, Hindi and basic English)
4. Strong public speaking skills
5. Basic working knowledge of computers (MS Excel, MS Word and Internet)

Location: Multiple locations with willingness to travel extensively in and around Mumbai. Candidates residing in Navi Mumbai and Thane will be given preference.
