Senior Alation Developer - SQL/Python (5-7 yrs)

About the Role :

As a Senior Alation Developer, you will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and managing our data catalog platform.

You will be responsible for ensuring data discoverability, understanding, and governance.

You will work closely with data engineers, data analysts, and business users to improve data literacy and drive data-driven decision-making.

Key Responsibilities :

- Design and implement a robust data catalog using Alation to organize, classify, and document data assets.

- Configure Alation to scan data sources and extract metadata.

- Create and maintain data lineage to understand data flows and dependencies.

- Enforce data governance policies and standards.

- Define and implement data quality rules and metrics.

- Collaborate with data stewards to ensure data accuracy and consistency.

- Design and implement user-friendly data interfaces and dashboards.

- Provide training and support to users on how to effectively use the data catalog.

- Integrate Alation with other data tools and platforms (data warehouses, data lakes, BI tools).

- Ensure seamless data flow and synchronization between systems.

- Optimize Alation performance to ensure fast query response times and efficient data access.

- Monitor system performance and identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.

Qualifications :

- Strong understanding of data management concepts, metadata, and data governance.

- Proven experience working with Alation Data Catalog (at least 1-3 projects).

- Experience in requirement gathering, technical design, and metadata load strategy definition.

- Proficiency in SQL and Python.

- Experience with data integration tools and ETL processes.

- Understanding of data modeling and data warehousing concepts.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
