Mold Shop Manager- Change/Transformation Leader

We are seeking an experienced, forward-thinking Mold Shop Manager who can drive real and transformative change across our molding operations. This is not a role for someone simply proficient in setting up machines. We are looking for a highly driven leader who understands production planning, process improvement, and modern manufacturing techniques, and who has the vision and determination to implement systems that will enhance efficiency, minimize labor, and ensure a highly organized and optimized mold shop. The successful candidate must prioritize velocity, working at a high speed to implement and drive changes quickly and effectively. Flexibility to work extended days or weeks, if necessary, is essential to deliver results.

Role & responsibilities

• Develop and implement efficient production planning processes, focusing on same material, same tool, and same machine assignments to streamline operations.
• Utilize real-time production monitoring systems and implement AI production planning tools to maximize machine utilization and minimize downtime.
• Ensure tools, robots, and laser cutters are properly aligned and set up for rapid changeovers.
• Lead and execute 5S initiatives to ensure a clean, organized, and efficient factory floor.
• Standardize all machine setting information for robotics, injection molding, and laser cutting to minimize setup time and improve consistency.
• Drive labor minimization strategies through automation, robotics, and optimized workflows.
• Spearhead the full digitization of mold shop operations, ensuring all processes are paperless and integrated into the companys ERP system.
• Implement vision systems, including AI-powered vision systems, to improve quality control and enhance operational efficiency.
• Work towards integrating AI-driven tools across the mold shop to improve predictive maintenance, production scheduling, and quality assurance.
• Instigate and manage major operational changes to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance productivity.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements across the factory.
• Train and mentor the team to adapt to new systems, processes, and technologies, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Ensure robots and other equipment are on standby and fully operational to support rapid response to production needs.
• Monitor and manage real-time KPIs to drive performance improvements and meet operational targets.
• Conduct regular audits to ensure adherence to best practices and compliance with standards.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5-7 years in a manufacturing leadership role, preferably within injection molding or related industries.
• Proven experience in driving operational change and implementing production planning systems.
• Experience with vision systems and AI-powered tools in manufacturing is a strong advantage.
• Familiarity with real-time production monitoring systems such as InTouch or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of automation, robotics, and ERP systems in manufacturing environments.
• Hands-on experience with 5S, lean manufacturing, and process improvement techniques.
• Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field preferred but not essential if experience demonstrates capability.
