Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Senior Tax Preparer/Reviewer to join our team and play a critical role in delivering accurate and timely tax compliance services. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in preparing and reviewing US tax returns, including forms 1040 (Individual), 1120 (Corporate), 1120S (S Corporation), and 1065 (Partnership). This role involves overseeing tax preparation activities, providing mentorship to junior staff, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Preparation and Review of Tax Returns:
Prepare and review complex US federal and state tax returns, including Forms 1040, 1120, 1120S, 1041, 990 and 1065.
Identify and resolve tax discrepancies, ensuring accuracy and compliance with IRS regulations.
Handle special tax situations (e.g., international tax, real estate, non-profit) as necessary.
Tax Planning and Advisory:
Provide tax planning recommendations to clients to optimize tax liabilities and identify opportunities for tax savings.
Stay updated on changes in federal, state, and local tax laws and communicate relevant updates to clients and team members.
Offer strategic tax advice for specific client industries (e.g., real estate, entertainment, etc.).
Team Management and Mentorship:
Review the work of junior tax preparers, providing constructive feedback and ensuring quality control.
Lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams, ensuring efficient tax preparation processes.
Mentor junior staff and assist in their professional growth.
Client Communication:
Build and maintain strong client relationships by providing timely responses to inquiries and proactive updates.
Conduct client consultations to gather necessary financial data and documentation for tax return preparation.
Handling Email Communication with US Clients
Process Optimization:
Identify opportunities to streamline tax preparation processes and improve operational efficiency.
Implement and maintain tax software systems and tools effectively.
Continuously improve operational processes for better service delivery and time management.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or EA designation preferred).
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of experience in US tax preparation, with expertise in Forms 1040, 1120, 1120S, and 1065.
Strong knowledge of federal and state tax regulations and compliance requirements.
Experience handling complex tax scenarios, such as international tax, real estate investments, or nonprofit tax filings (if applicable).
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in tax preparation software (e.g., Lacerte, ProConnect, UltraTax, or similar tools).
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
Soft Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
