Job Summary:
The Credit Analyst will be responsible for assessing the creditworthiness of corporate clients, analyzing their financial health, and determining the risk associated with lending and financing activities. The role will also involve collecting and managing overdue payments, working with clients to resolve outstanding debts, and ensuring the companys credit policies are followed in line with organizational objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Credit Assessment:
Analyze the financial statements, cash flows, and credit history of corporate clients to evaluate their ability to repay debts.
Assess industry, market, and economic factors to evaluate the risk of lending to specific companies.
Develop and maintain a credit rating model for corporate clients.
Provide recommendations on credit limits, terms, and conditions based on thorough financial analysis.
Credit Monitoring:
Regularly monitor the financial status of clients and flag any potential risks or concerns early.
Track payments and ensure clients adhere to the agreed payment schedules.
Review and assess the effectiveness of existing credit policies and propose improvements if necessary.
Collections Management:
Oversee the collections process, working directly with clients to ensure timely payment of overdue accounts.
Coordinate with the collections team to initiate legal actions if necessary for delinquent accounts.
Implement and maintain collections strategies to minimize outstanding debts and improve cash flow.
Work with clients to resolve payment disputes and negotiate payment terms where applicable.
Reporting & Documentation:
Prepare detailed reports on creditworthiness, payment trends, and risk factors for senior management.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all credit activities, including client assessments, payment histories, and communication.
Ensure compliance with all internal and external credit policies, regulations, and best practices.
Relationship Management:
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to understand their financial situation and help resolve any issues related to payment or credit terms.
Work closely with the sales, finance, and legal teams to ensure seamless processing of credit applications and payments.
Risk Management:
Identify potential risks and suggest appropriate mitigating actions to minimize financial exposure.
Collaborate with senior management to review credit limits and exposure on a regular basis.
Qualifications & Skills:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
Professional certifications (e.g., CFA, FRM) are a plus.
Experience:
2-5 years of experience in credit analysis, corporate finance, or related field.
Previous experience with collections, particularly in a corporate finance environment, is highly desirable.
Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of financial analysis and accounting principles.
Proficiency in financial software, MS Excel (advanced), and ERP systems.
Experience with credit risk models and tools.
Communication & Negotiation Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders.
Strong negotiation skills to handle sensitive payment discussions.Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills:
Ability to interpret financial data, identify trends, and make informed decisions.
High attention to detail and accuracy in financial analysis and reporting.
