Job Description
- Monitor Security Alerts: Actively monitor security tools, including SIEM (Security Information and Event Management), IDS/IPS (Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems), and other monitoring solutions, for potential security threats and incidents.
- Incident Triage and Analysis: Respond to and triage security incidents, analyzing logs, network traffic, and other data sources to determine the severity and nature of potential threats.
- Incident Documentation: Document and track security incidents, actions taken, and resolutions in the incident management system.
- Threat Escalation: Escalate identified incidents to senior analysts or security engineers for further investigation and remediation.
Reporting: Generate and maintain regular security reports, including incident summaries, threat activity reports, and recommendations for improving security posture. - Tool Utilization: Use and maintain security tools such as SIEM, endpoint protection platforms, antivirus software.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Basic Knowledge of Cybersecurity: Familiarity with foundational cybersecurity concepts, such as network security, firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention, and encryption. - Technical Proficiency: Basic knowledge of operating systems (Windows, Linux), networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S), and common security technologies (SIEM, IDS/IPS, firewalls).
- Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to quickly assess and prioritize security incidents.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document incidents clearly and escalate issues effectively.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail with the ability to detect anomalies in large volumes of data.
- Team Player: Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment.
- Certifications (Preferred but Not Required):
- CompTIA Security+
- Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in Security Operations: Any prior experience in a security operations center (SOC), IT support, or other security-related role is a plus.
