Qlik Developer Metadata Analysis & Power BI Migration Specialist

Role & responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced Qlik Developer who specializes in QlikSense & Qlikview and has hands-on experience with metadata analysis and migration to Power BI. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in facilitating the smooth transition from Qlik to Power BI, ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and performance while also leveraging their expertise in reading, interpreting, and managing Qlik metadata.

Key Responsibilities:

• Metadata Analysis & Management:
• Analyze and extract metadata from existing QlikSense applications, including data models, dashboards, and reports. Sound knowledge on Qlik API's
• Document data lineage, dependencies, and relationships within Qlik applications.
• Work with data dictionaries and mapping documents to ensure data consistency during migration.
• Qlik Development:
• Develop, enhance, and maintain QlikSense dashboards, data models, and visualizations.
• Optimize Qlik scripts and data loading processes for better performance.
• Implement best practices for data modeling, ETL, and visualization in Qlik.
• Power BI Migration:
• Collaborate with the Power BI team to plan and execute the migration of Qlik applications to Power BI.
• Translate Qlik data models, dashboards, and KPIs into Power BI equivalents while ensuring functional and visual consistency.
• Assist in creating Power BI dataflows, datasets, and reports using data from legacy Qlik applications.
• Collaboration & Stakeholder Management:
• Work closely with business analysts, data engineers, and stakeholders to understand reporting requirements.
• Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting during the migration process.
• Conduct knowledge transfer sessions for the Power BI team on Qlik data structures and logic.
• Quality Assurance & Testing:
• Validate migrated data and reports in Power BI to ensure consistency with Qlik dashboards.
• Perform data reconciliation and handle discrepancies during migration.
• Implement version control and change management for Qlik and Power BI reports.

Preferred candidate profile

Required Qualifications & Skills:

• Technical Expertise:
• 3-5+ years of experience working with QlikSense (including data modeling, scripting, and dashboard development).
• Strong knowledge of Qlik metadata structures, Qlik APIs, QVDs, and QVX files.
• Hands-on experience in Power BI development, including DAX, Power Query, and data modeling.
• Proficiency in SQL for querying and data validation.
• Migration Experience:
• Prior experience in migrating dashboards and data models from Qlik to Power BI is an advantage.
• Knowledge of common challenges and best practices in BI platform migrations.
• Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills:
• Strong ability to analyze complex data models and translate them between BI tools.
• Detail-oriented with excellent troubleshooting and data validation skills.
• Soft Skills:
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with other BI tools (e.g., Tableau, SSRS) is a plus.
• Certification in QlikSense and/or Power BI is desirable.
