We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced CAD Technician to join our Civil team as part of our Pavement design and construction projects. As a CAD Technician, you will play a crucial role in creating detailed and accurate computer-aided design (CAD) drawings, Pavement layouts, Plans, cross section and models for road and airfield Pavement. You will work closely with the engineering team to ensure the successful completion of projects from inception to completion.
Responsibilities:
- Develop detailed and accurate road and airfield pavement design and construction drawings using CAD software, following project specifications, engineering standards, and codes.
- Collaborate with engineers and other team members to understand project requirements and provide technical support during the design and construction phases of design projects.
- Collaborate with engineers and project teams to interpret project requirements and produce accurate technical drawings.
- Participate in project meetings and provide updates on drafting progress and challenges.
- Create 3D pavement models and visualizations to assess design feasibility and communicate ideas to stakeholders.
- Prepare and update CAD drawings as needed, ensuring accuracy and adherence to established project deadlines.
- Conduct regular reviews of designs and identify any discrepancies or errors, providing suggestions for improvements and modifications when necessary.
- Assist in the preparation of engineering reports, proposals, and specifications related to pavement design and construction.
- Maintain a comprehensive archive of all CAD files and project documentation, ensuring that they are easily accessible and organized for future reference.
- Stay updated with the latest CAD software and techniques, participating in professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
- Collaborate with the project team to ensure proper coordination and integration of CAD drawings and models with other construction-related documents and systems.
- Follow established safety guidelines and protocols to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a CAD Technician in the civil engineering field, preferably with a focus on road pavement design and construction.
- Proficiency in using CAD software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, etc.) and an understanding of 3D modeling techniques.
- Ability to utilise AutoCAD, Civil 3D and MicroStation in adherence to defined CAD standards to develop layouts, labelling, dimensioning, sheet layout, design details and other appropriate design concepts.
- Ability to create and check road and pavement drawing deliverables.
- Ability to create road marking drawings and specifications.
- Ability to read and interpret 2D and 3D CAD drawings and models to assist with investigations of engineering problems.
- Ability to liaise with the design teams as necessary to coordinate design and drawing production.
- Ability to perform self-check maintain the QC process.
- Ability to understand the comments and how to address and link the impact with other drawings.
- Basic knowledge about various DMRB standards.
- Strong technical and mathematical skills, with the ability to accurately interpret and analyze engineering drawings and specifications.
- Familiarity with relevant codes, guidelines, and standards related to bridge design and construction (e.g., DMRB, AASHTO, ACI).
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities to identify and resolve design issues and discrepancies.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and present technical information.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
- A degree or diploma in civil engineering or a related field is preferred, but relevant work experience will also be considered.
- Knowledge of GIS software and civil engineering software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) is an advantage
