Lab Instructor - Foreman

Role & responsibilities

Lab session planning

• Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of laboratory staff.

• Schedule and assign tasks to lab technicians and assistants.

• Ensure that individuals who work under him/her carryout their tasks duties diligently and effectively for successful completion.

Equipment inventory and management

• Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed.

• Oversee the maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment.

• Troubleshoot technical issues with equipment and instruments

Laboratory management

• Ensure adherence to safety protocols and regulatory requirements

• Train new lab personnel on procedures and safety guidelines.

• Have good knowledge of tasks he/she is supervising to know what is right or wrong, and to put workers through where they are experiencing difficulties.

• To support as teaching assistant

Maintaining records

• Review and approve laboratory reports and documentation.

• Collaborate with management to develop and implement laboratory policies and procedures.

• Maintain accurate records of laboratory activities and personnel performance along with rotation of lab instructor.

• Keep accurate records of laboratory activities and student attendance

Educational Qualification: The education qualification for Foreman is not explicitly mentioned in the AICTE and DTE norms. However, typically, a Foreman should have a relevant degree or diploma in the field they are supervising, along with 8-10 years of work experience.
