Manager, Release Engineering

Job Description Job Purpose The Manager, Release Engineering is responsible for leading and managing a team responsible for supporting and maintaining SDLC tooling and infrastructure. As part of the larger team, this position helps to set the direction, establish and enforce standards, implement solutions, develop best practices and guide team members on a number of automation and infrastructure efforts. Responsibilities Team Leadership: Lead a team of productivity tool specialists or engineers, providing guidance, mentoring, and performance management. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the team. Process Improvement Develop and refine processes to streamline development workflows, reduce bottlenecks, and increase overall efficiency. Implement best practices for coding standards, code reviews, testing, and deployment. Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with development teams to understand their pain points and requirements related to productivity tools and processes. Facilitate communication between development teams and other departments, ensuring alignment on tools and processes. Metrics and Reporting: Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to developer productivity, such as response times, deployment frequency, and code review turnaround, and Error Trends. Generate reports and provide insights to senior management on the impact of productivity tools and processes. Security and Compliance: Ensure that all tools and processes comply with organizational security policies and regulatory requirements. Work with the security team to address any vulnerabilities or risks associated with development tools. Training and Support: Provide training and documentation to developers on the effective use of productivity tools and best practices. Offer ongoing support and troubleshooting for productivity tools, acting as the primary point of contact for related issues. Knowledge and Experience Experience as a people manager or in a team lead role with delegation duties Strong practical Linux and Windows-based systems administration skills Strong understanding of both modern and legacy SDLC tools, including GitHub Enterprise, Bitbucket, Artifactory, Jira, Perforce, SVN, and Fisheye Crucible. Demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product and technical challenges Experience with Agile methodologies, particularly Scrum, and managing projects in Jira. Ability to work in a service-oriented team environment Communicate effectively with both technical and business resources Desired Bachelor s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. 5+ years of experience managing teams in a technology environment. Experience managing production operations, including data assurance, monitoring, alerting and notifications Moderate experience coding with any combination of Perl, Ruby, Bourne, Python, Java, API s, and others Experience with automation tools including but not limited to Ansible, Puppet, Jenkins, Chef, Terraform, or similar Schedule This role offers work from home flexibility of 1 day per week.
