Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Production Scheduling:
- Develop and maintain the production schedule based on customer demand, inventory levels, and production capacity.
- Coordinate with sales, procurement, and manufacturing teams to ensure production plans align with overall business objectives.
- Monitor production progress and adjust schedules as needed to accommodate delays, equipment malfunctions, or staffing shortages.
- Material Planning and Procurement:
- Work with the procurement team to ensure that materials are available when needed for production.
- Monitor inventory levels to prevent stockouts or overstock situations.
- Forecast future material requirements based on production schedules and historical trends.
- Capacity Planning:
- Analyze production capacity and resource utilization to optimize production processes.
- Ensure that production resources (e.g., labor, equipment, raw materials) are used efficiently and within capacity limits.
- Identify potential bottlenecks in the production process and recommend solutions to resolve them.
- Production Monitoring:
- Track and monitor the daily production activities to ensure adherence to the schedule.
- Report on production progress and highlight any issues or delays that could impact delivery times.
- Work with the quality control team to ensure that production quality meets standards and customer specifications.
- Collaboration:
- Collaborate with the operations, engineering, quality control, and logistics teams to resolve production issues and ensure smooth operations.
- Coordinate with shipping and logistics teams to ensure timely and accurate delivery of finished goods to customers.
- Cost Management:
- Identify opportunities for reducing production costs without compromising quality or delivery schedules.
- Help in managing and controlling production costs by optimizing the use of resources, reducing waste, and improving processes.
- Inventory Management:
- Ensure optimal inventory levels of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods to support uninterrupted production.
- Work closely with the warehouse team to ensure inventory is stored properly and handled efficiently.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Identify and recommend improvements to the production process to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
- Implement lean manufacturing principles and best practices to continuously enhance production operations.
- Track performance metrics (e.g., on-time delivery, production efficiency, quality) and work to improve them.
- Reporting and Documentation:
- Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports on production status, capacity utilization, and inventory levels.
- Maintain detailed records of production schedules, material usage, and other planning-related activities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Previous experience in production planning, supply chain management, or manufacturing operations (typically 2-5 years).
- Familiarity with ERP or MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) and production planning software.
- Strong understanding of production processes, inventory management, and supply chain operations.
Skills:
- Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills to work with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to identify process inefficiencies and recommend improvements.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in planning and documentation.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and techniques.
Experience:
- Prior experience in production planning, inventory management, or supply chain management is typically required.
- Experience with production scheduling, forecasting, and managing material requirements is highly desirable.
