Job Description:
As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist cum Radiation Safety Officer II, you will be responsible for performing a variety of technical procedures involving the use of radioactive materials and imaging equipment in diagnosing and treating patients. Your role will involve not only performing nuclear medicine procedures but also ensuring compliance with radiation safety regulations and protocols within the facility.
Qualification
Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology or a related field.
Certification as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) or equivalent credential.
Certification as a Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) or equivalent qualification preferred.
Minimum of [3] years of experience in nuclear medicine technology, with experience in radiation safety management.
Strong knowledge of nuclear medicine procedures, radiopharmaceuticals, and imaging equipment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.
Attention to detail and adherence to strict safety protocols.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Knowledge of regulatory requirements and standards related to radiation safety and nuclear medicine practice.
Key Responsibilities
Perform nuclear medicine procedures such as administering radiopharmaceuticals, operating imaging equipment (e. g. , gamma cameras), and acquiring images for diagnostic purposes.
Prepare and calibrate radiopharmaceuticals according to prescribed procedures and protocols.
Ensure patient safety and comfort during nuclear medicine procedures, explaining the process to patients and addressing any concerns they may have.
Monitor patients during and after procedures to assess adverse reactions and ensure proper radiation exposure levels.
Maintain accurate patient records, including imaging data, radiopharmaceutical administration details, and patient history.
Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to interpret imaging results and provide accurate diagnostic information.
Oversee radiation safety protocols within the facility, including monitoring radiation exposure levels, implementing safety procedures, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Train and educate staff members on radiation safety practices, including proper handling of radioactive materials and equipment.
Perform routine quality control checks on imaging equipment to ensure optimal performance and image quality.
Stay updated on advancements in nuclear medicine technology and radiation safety practices through continuing education and professional development activities.
