The Sr. Project Manager is responsible for managing assigned Renewable Energy EPC projects, both strategically and operationally, to ensure the appropriate use of technical and human resources to achieve safe, on-time completion according to specifications and within budgeted costs. The role acts as the senior leader interfacing contractors, owners and lenders engineers, and other external and Internal stakeholders whilst planning, monitoring, managing and reporting projects from ready to build stage through completion and handover to the asset management team. The position holder reports to the Head of Construction/Projects.
The position holder leads the qualification and selection of contractors or workforce from a technical and capability perspective. The position holder will provide key inputs into construction costing and contracting structures and create comparisons of different construction and contracting options that consider cost reductions vs increased risk. Health and safety are top priorities for the position holder, who works closely with the business/project development team. The achievement of financial and quality results and operational excellence characterises the leadership. The position holder manages a team whose capabilities are expanded and upgraded by effective and individualized employee development.
This position is based out of Bangalore and will report to the Head of Construction/Projects
Duties are, but are not limited to:
Project Management lead for assigned projects including all construction activities with overall commercial, technical & site construction responsibility.
Ensuring that Safety, Health, Social and Environmental plans/requirements are implemented to BLE standards, in compliance with Indian laws and regulatory requirements and specific project requirements if applicable.
Responsible for time, cost, quality and compliance with WHSE of assigned projects.
Delivering inputs and working closely with the development team to ensure that land and permitting are executed to align with the overall project s schedule and budget.
Managing single or multiple EPC contractors, split contract structures or as self EPC to ensure project deliverables are met as planned.
Reporting to management on weekly/monthly basis on WHSE, construction, cost and variations against the baseline and forecasted completion date.
Provide inputs for comparing construction and contracting options and assessing cost reductions versus risk increases.
Ensuring all construction and offtake agreements are reviewed with a focus on technical, quality and project management scope of work (Employers requirements).
Ensuring contractual objectives are met on time, to specification and quality, and, where practicable, realising cost reductions.
Managing contractual communications with contractor s and suppliers in close alignment with the Head of Contract Management, Supply Chain and legal Team.
Ensuring that permits, approvals and legal papers are secured and maintained in line with project plans and regulatory requirements.
Leading the qualification and selection of contractors or workforce from a technical and construction capability perspective.
Leading the creation and update of scope of work, method statements, inspection and test protocols.
Control and report construction budgets, timelines, risks, and opportunities against baseline programs and communicate internally to Project Management and management.
Communicate with the WHSE team on all aspects of Health, Safety, Environment and Social compliance on and off construction sites.
Deliver inputs in pre-tender and pre-construction meetings focusing on construction aspects, risks and costs.
Maintain Construction Contract review and documentation,
Responsible for pre-construction activities at sites that include construction or project management team members.
Produce and maintain construction project plans per project, aggregation, and priority setting (using MS Project, Excel, or other project planning software systems). Identify areas of improvement or concern when applicable.
Peers will include assigned Business, Project Development, Engineering, Supply Chain, Investment, Finance, Legal, WHSE, Quality and Community Engagement
To be considered for this role, you will have:
A college degree, Bachelor s or Master s degree in Engineering, Project or Construction management with 15-20 years of construction project management track record in the power/industrial sector.
Proven track record of delivering ISTS-connected utility-scale solar construction projects in India. Having a good understanding of the regulatory landscape for the development of renewable energy projects in India
Experience managing projects as an EPC and from an investor s perspective and managing EPC and construction contractors.
Proven technical and commercial acumen in creating and managing technical and commercial agreements and maintaining contractual relationships with offtakers, EPC or construction contractors, suppliers and other external and internal stakeholders.
Takes an interest in and shares knowledge about new developments, market trends, best construction practices, and competitors products/activities available in the public domain.
