Database Administrator

Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team. The DBA will be responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and securing our organization's databases. The ideal candidate will ensure optimal database performance, data integrity, and availability while adhering to best practices and established standards and policies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, install, configure, and maintain database systems (SQL, NoSQL, etc.) based on business requirements.
• Support database design, creation, and testing activities to ensure robust and scalable architectures.
• Monitor database performance by tracking usage, transaction volumes, response times, and concurrency levels, and implement tuning improvements and query optimization.
• Create and maintain database standards and policies to ensure consistent practices across systems.
• Perform regular maintenance tasks such as indexing, partitioning, archiving, and general housekeeping.
• Define and implement event triggers that alert on potential database performance or integrity issues.
• Administer database objects to achieve optimum utilization and manage incident and problem resolution processes.
• Implement access controls, security measures, and frameworks while ensuring compliance with industry standards and data protection regulations.
• Identify, report, and manage database security issues, audit trails, and forensic investigations.
• Design and implement comprehensive backup, recovery, archiving, and storage strategies.
• Install upgrades and patches to various applications and database platforms.
• Develop and maintain documentation, including schemas, procedures, and best practices.
• Collaborate with developers, system administrators, and business teams to support evolving data needs.
• Automate database management tasks using scripts and tools.
• Stay updated with the latest database technologies and trends, recommending improvements as appropriate.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• A minimum of 2-5 years of experience as a Database Administrator or in a similar role.
• Proven experience with database systems such as Microsoft SQL, SQL Server, MongoDB
• Strong knowledge of SQL, database scripting, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with backup, recovery, and high-availability solutions.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
