Logistics Cost Analyst

Role & responsibilities

Job Summary:

The Logistics Cost Analyst is responsible for optimizing logistics costs, analyzing transportation expenses, and improving supply chain efficiency. This role involves cost modeling, vendor negotiations, and process enhancements to ensure the cost-effective and timely distribution of cement while maintaining service quality and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

Logistics Cost Optimization & Analysis:

• Conduct in-depth analysis of transportation, warehousing, and distribution costs to identify and implement cost-saving opportunities.
• Monitor and optimize key cost metrics, including cost per ton, freight rates, and overall logistics expenditure.
• Develop and implement cost-control strategies aligned with business goals.
• Benchmark costs against industry standards and internal targets.

Data Analysis & Reporting:

• Collect, analyze, and interpret logistics cost data, shipment volumes, and transportation trends.
• Prepare detailed reports, dashboards, and presentations for senior management.
• Support budgeting and forecasting activities related to logistics expenses.
• Maintain accurate records of vendor agreements, freight contracts, and cost structures.

Vendor & Freight Management:

• Evaluate and negotiate freight agreements with transporters and logistics service providers to ensure cost efficiency.
• Monitor market trends, freight cost fluctuations, and carrier performance to optimize vendor selection.
• Ensure adherence to contractual agreements and resolve cost discrepancies with vendors.

Process Improvement & Compliance:

• Identify inefficiencies in logistics operations and recommend process enhancements.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, company policies, and safety standards in logistics operations.
• Work closely with procurement, operations, and finance teams to align logistics and cost-reduction strategies.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Education: Bachelor's/Masters degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Finance, Business Analytics, or a related field.

• Experience: 7 - 8 years of experience in logistics cost analysis, supply chain management, or transportation operations (preferably in cement or heavy manufacturing industries).

• Technical Skills:
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel, Power BI, SAP, and other ERP systems).
• In-depth understanding of freight rate structures, transport contracts, and cost drivers.

• Soft Skills:
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
• Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple stakeholders.
• Detail-oriented with a strategic and cost-focused mindset.

Preferred Industry Experience:

• Cement, construction materials, or heavy manufacturing logistics.
• Experience managing bulk material transportation (road, rail, or sea).
