Safety Officer- Open Cast Coal Mines

Experience required : More than 10 Years in Opencast Mines. In that, Minimum 2 years of

experience after obtaining FMCC Certificate.

Qualification : First Class Mines Manager Certificate (Coal Restricted) and as per Reg.

27 of CMR 2017. with B.E or B.Tech in Mining Engineering from a

recognized university.

Roles and Responsibilities :

1. Visit surface parts of the mine with a view to meet the workers on the

spot, to talk to them on matters of safety and invite suggestions

thereon.

2. Take charge of the newly recruited staff and show them around the

mine pointing out the safe and unsafe acts during the course of their

work in the mine.

3. Maintain detailed statistics about mine accidents and to analyze the

same with a view to pinpoint the nature and common causes of the

accidents in the mine.

4. Study and apprise the manager of all possible sources of danger

such as fire, Water inundation and others.

5. Hold safety classes and give safety talks and lectures to the members

of the supervisory staff.

6. Organize safety weeks and other safety education and propaganda

programmes in mine;

7. Provide assistance in the formulation of programme for training at the

mine level, including vocational training, training in gas testing, and

training in first aid, etc.

8. Report to the manager as a result of his visits to the various parts of

mine, as to whether the provisions of the Act, and the rules and

regulations made thereunder are being complied with in the mine.

9. Promote safe practices generally and to lend active support to all

measures intended for furthering the cause of safety in the mine and

follow up measures for compliance to the recommendations of the

Safety Committee and Workman's Inspectors.

10. Assist the manager in any other matter relating to safety in the mine

and all the duties as per reg. 44 of CMR 2017.
