Role Overview:

The lawyer will work on-site as part of the in-house legal team, supporting day-to-day legal operations and execution tasks. The role will focus on contract drafting, regulatory compliance, drafting legal notices and litigation support.

Key Responsibilities:

A. Contract Management & Execution

- Draft, review, and finalize commercial contracts, including vendor agreements, supply chain contracts, service agreements, and product-related agreements.

- Ensure timely contract execution by coordinating with internal stakeholders, vendors, and external parties.

B. Litigation & Dispute Resolution Support

- Work with external counsel to manage litigation cases, ensuring timely filing of pleadings and responses.

- Support document collection, evidence collation, and case management for disputes and regulatory inquiries.

- Prepare drafts of Letter of authority, Power of Attorney, legal notices, responses, and settlement agreements.

C. Regulatory & Compliance Support

- Monitor and track regulatory updates and any changes affecting business operations.

- Ensure operational compliance with labeling, packaging, and other statutory requirements in coordination with cross-functional teams.

- Support internal audits by preparing necessary documentation and responses to regulatory inquiries.

D. General Legal & Compliance Operations

- Act as the first point of contact for day-to-day legal queries from business teams.

- Assist in drafting and updating internal legal policies and compliance SOPs.

- Conduct legal research on regulatory and compliance matters affecting the business.

- Assist in drafting and issuing legal notices related to unauthorized sales, including cease & desist notices and IP infringement actions.

- Travel as required to co-ordinate various legal issues/ litigation with external lawyers and other stakeholders.

- Maintain a repository of past cases, legal precedents, and best practices for handling unauthorized sales matters efficiently.

Qualifications & Competencies:

- Education: Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from a recognized university.

- Experience: 3-4 years of experience in a corporate law firm / inhouse lawyer, with hands-on experience in contract drafting, regulatory compliance, and litigation support.

Skills:

- Good contract drafting and negotiation abilities.

- Good understanding of regulatory and compliance laws in the agriculture, chemical, or life sciences industry.

- Hands-on experience in litigation support, including case tracking and document preparation.

- Organized, execution-focused, and deadline-driven.

- Energetic, good communication and coordination skills to work seamlessly with in-house teams and external law firms.

Note: This position is for Bayer and will be on Third Party Payrolls for a period of 1 year.
