Store Assistant

Job Title: Stores Assistant
Department: Stores/Warehouse
Reports To: Stores/Warehouse Manager

Job Summary:
The Stores Assistant supports warehouse operations by efficiently handling goods receipt, storage, packing, and dispatch activities in compliance with AS9120B standards. The role involves ensuring proper material handling, accurate documentation, and adherence to packing requirements specific to aviation consumables, including hazardous and shelf-life-controlled items.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Goods Receipt and Inspection

• Receive, verify, and inspect incoming materials against purchase orders and delivery notes.
• Ensure all goods meet quality standards and are free from defects or damage.
• Handle non-conformance issues, report discrepancies, and communicate with suppliers as needed.

2. Storage and Inventory Management

• Organize and store materials in designated locations following FIFO (First-In, First-Out) or FEFO (First-Expired, First-Out) principles.
• Monitor and manage shelf-life items, ensuring timely usage or disposal.
• Update and maintain inventory records in the warehouse management system (WMS).
• Conduct regular cycle counts and assist with annual inventory audits.

3. Material Packing and Dispatch

• Pack materials according to customer specifications and aviation industry requirements.
• Ensure proper labeling, including hazardous material labeling, and attach Safety Data Sheets (SDS) where required.
• Verify the accuracy of dispatch documentation, including packing lists, invoices, and shipping labels.
• Coordinate with logistics providers to ensure timely delivery of goods.

4. Compliance with AS9120B Standards

• Maintain accurate records and documentation as per AS9120B requirements.
• Adhere to quality management systems and ensure compliance during all operations.
• Support internal and external audits by ensuring readiness and providing required documentation.

5. Safety and Hazardous Material Handling

• Handle and store hazardous materials in compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
• Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
• Keep the warehouse clean and organized to minimize safety risks.

6. Collaboration and Reporting

• Work closely with the Stores Manager and team to ensure smooth operations.
• Report any operational issues or material discrepancies promptly.
• Assist in identifying opportunities for process improvement to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Qualifications and Skills:
Education and Experience:

• Graduation or equivalent.
• Experience in warehouse or stores operations, preferably in the aviation or AS9120B-certified environment.

Technical Skills:

• Knowledge of packing standards for aviation consumables, including hazardous materials.
• Proficiency in warehouse management systems (WMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Familiarity with AS9120B requirements and quality management systems.

Key Competencies:

• Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to multitask and work under tight deadlines.

Additional Requirements:

• Forklift certification (preferred).
• Understanding of hazardous material handling and documentation (MSDS).
• Awareness of shelf-life management principles.

Work Environment:

• Warehouse-based role involving physical activities such as packing, lifting, and moving materials.
• Adherence to safety and quality standards is mandatory.
