You will play a crucial role in providing diagnostic imaging services to patients under the supervision of radiologists or other healthcare professionals. You will operate imaging equipment, perform imaging procedures, and ensure the production of high-quality images for accurate diagnosis. This position requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Responsibilities:Imaging procedures: Perform a variety of imaging procedures, including X-rays, computed tomography (CT) scans, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and fluoroscopy. Follow established protocols and safety guidelines to ensure patient safety and accurate imaging results.
Equipment operation: Operate radiographic and imaging equipment, including X-ray machines, CT scanners, MRI machines, and fluoroscopy equipment. Ensure proper positioning of patients and adjust equipment settings to obtain clear and accurate images.Patient care: Prepare patients for imaging procedures, explaining the process, and addressing any concerns or questions they may have.
Position patients correctly and immobilize them as necessary to obtain optimal images. Provide reassurance and support to anxious or uncomfortable patients during the procedure.Image quality assurance: Ensure the production of high-quality images by correctly positioning patients, adjusting equipment settings, and adhering to imaging protocols. Review images to ensure clarity, accuracy, and proper exposure. Consult with radiologists or other healthcare professionals as needed for image interpretation or clarification.
Radiation safety: Follow radiation safety protocols and maintain a safe working environment for both patients and staff. Use appropriate shielding techniques and radiation protection devices to minimize exposure. Adhere to regulatory requirements and guidelines for radiation safety and protection.
Equipment maintenance and troubleshooting: Perform routine maintenance and calibration of imaging equipment. Report any equipment malfunctions or issues to appropriate personnel. Troubleshoot minor equipment problems and perform basic repairs or adjustments when possible.Documentation and record-keeping: Maintain accurate and complete patient records, including imaging orders, patient information, imaging techniques used, and any relevant observations. Ensure timely and accurate documentation of imaging procedures, patient responses, and any adverse reactions or incidents.
Collaboration and communication: Collaborate effectively with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care. Communicate clearly and professionally with patients, explaining procedures, obtaining medical histories, and documenting relevant information.
Continuous learning and professional development: Stay updated on the latest advancements and best practices in radiology technology and imaging techniques. Participate in continuing education programs, workshops, and conferences to enhance technical skills and knowledge.
Compliance and quality assurance: Adhere to all applicable laws, regulations, and institutional policies related to radiology and patient care. Follow quality assurance protocols to maintain and improve the quality and accuracy of imaging services.
Qualifications:Associate degree or diploma in Radiologic Technology or a related field.Certification or licensure as a Radiologic Technologist or Radiographer.Knowledge of radiographic and imaging equipment, techniques, and safety procedures.Understanding of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology related to radiology.
Proficiency in operating radiographic and imaging equipment, including X-ray machines, CT scanners, MRI machines, and fluoroscopy equipment.Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact compassionately and professionally with patients of all ages and backgrounds.Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with healthcare professionals.
Problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot equipment issues or imaging challenges.Physical stamina and dexterity to position and move patients as required.Commitment to patient safety, privacy, and confidentiality.Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and on-call rotations.
