Provide technical guidance to radiation therapists on treatment delivery techniques and patient positioning. Radiation Safety and Regulatory Compliance: Act as the Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) for the radiation oncology department, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and radiation safety standards. Develop and implement radiation safety protocols and procedures to minimize radiation exposure risks to patients, staff, and the public. Conduct regular radiation safety audits and inspections, maintain records, and prepare reports for regulatory agencies. Quality Assurance and Quality Control: Establish and maintain a comprehensive quality assurance program for radiation therapy equipment, treatment planning systems, and treatment delivery processes. Perform routine quality control checks on treatment machines, imaging systems, and other equipment to ensure their optimal performance and accuracy. Monitor and analyze treatment data to identify trends, evaluate treatment outcomes, and implement corrective actions when necessary. Research and Development: Stay up to date with the latest advances in radiation therapy technology, treatment techniques, and quality assurance methodologies. Participate in research projects and clinical trials related to radiation oncology. Contribute to the development of new treatment protocols and techniques to improve patient outcomes and safety. Team Collaboration and Leadership: Provide leadership and mentorship to junior medical physicists and radiation therapy staff. Collaborate with radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless coordination and delivery of patient care.
