Associate Principle Engineer

Role & responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the Water Supply Section towards achieving the Water & Wastewater Department targets included in the Water & Environment Sector business plan
• Lead water supply infrastructure design activities, designing water supply networks, irrigation systems, pumping stations, etc.
• Provide input on the Water Supply Section capacity and capability to deliver projects, outsourcing needs, expert knowledge and man-hour estimates during the proposal development stage
• Recommend and engage specialty suppliers for the Water Supply Section, as required
• Assign water supply infrastructure design engineers to project teams, as required by project scope, in coordination with Project Managers
• Assign water supply infrastructure design engineers to projects in Geographies, in coordination with Geography Managers
• Oversee design development of the water supply infrastructure design teams in the design center at all stages (concept design, schematic design, draft final design, tender and construction documents etc.)
• Provide technical advice to Project Managers and design teams, during all design stages, including design development, design review, design coordination, value engineering and design validation, as required
• Review design deliverables prepared by the Water Supply Section and ensure correct implementation of quality control measures
• Lead value engineering activities for design deliverables prepared in the Water Supply Section
• Ensure close coordination and knowledge sharing between the Water Supply Section and Water Supply Sections in other design centers within the K&A network through periodic meetings
• Enforce corporate policies and procedures in Water Supply Section.

Qualification, Technical Skills and Competencies

• Bachelors degree in civil engineering / master's in environmental engineering
• PMP certification is preferred
• Chartered Professional Engineering certification or equivalent is preferred
• In depth knowledge and proven track record of water supply infrastructure design principles and activities
• Understanding of international engineering standards and codes
• Strong project management skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal and managerial skills
• Proficiency in spoken and written English & Arabic

Specific Experience Required to Execute this Role

• 16+ years of experience in Water supply and clean water
• Experience and track record in managing water supply design projects such as design of water supply systems, irrigations systems, pumping stations, etc.
• Proficiency with water supply and network analysis software, such as, water gems, AutoCAD, Bentley Software CIVIL 3D – Navis Works – MS Project
• Strong experience and track record in managing large and complex water supply infrastructure design projects
