Job Description
Accountability: Safety Implementation:
To plan, organize & coordinate with FHs, HODs and HOSs in effective implementation of SHE policy and safe work practices to improve the Safety performance of the plant to achieve Zero accident target.
Plant inspections, Develop checklists
Monitor the implementation
Participation in departmental meetings
Participation in Functional meeting
Participation in departmental meetings
Monitoring sectional level safety review meeting.
Co-ordinate for purchase of PPE
Emphasis on developing control measures with application of risk hierarchys control measures and giving priority to top three control measures
Encouraging people to use of PPEs
Motivation by directly interacting with staff, workmen & contractual workforce.
Review of incident reports and analysis of all type of accidents & incident.
Feedback to FHs/ HODs for implementing control measures in their respective areas..
Conducting class room & on job training programmes
Arrange external training programmes
Arrange external audit
Periodical reviewing critical observations on job and table top discussion to resolve it to provide SAFE working environment on shop floor
Collecting, analyzing, up-keeping the data of accident, incidents, man days lost, loss of property and review it periodically for action plan to achieve zero accident; Sending monthly site safety statistics to sustainability board and corporate safety head
Safety promotion:
Identify and formulate programmes related to safety in order to motivate employees
Encouraging site people for reporting of quality near miss from the site, Cash reward scheme on near miss reporting,Suggestion Scheme
Rewards and recognition scheme, Display boards, posters/slogans,Safety tool box meeting involving all employees & contractual workforce.
Awareness campaign:
Celebration of National Safety Day on 4th March, Fire service day on 14th April, Road Safety week, Monthly theme based safety campaigning Safety quiz and demonstration of safety taking lead.Coordinating to ensure
Mock drills as per schedule.
Plan and prepare safety dept. budget
Facilitating for making safety CAPEX budget through the line function
Development of safety procedures:
Development of safety procedure/policy, Reporting unsafe practices, Improvement in incident Investigation and analyzing accidents to develop standard practices of safety, analyzing SBO report
Identifying unsafe practices and circulating them in the form of OFI to the concerned dept.;
Study of site safety procedure submitted by safety subcommittee/standard champion/dept. to unit head and making correction as per site requirement and taking approval from the Unit Head;
Listing activities of operations inco-ordination with departmental people
Identifying hazards & associated risks
Ensuring dept. has developed Counter-measures / control of hazards and follow up Audit of practices,standard. Interactive suggestions, Cause of accidents , Types of injury.
Causation model
Identify areas of unsafe conditions
Recommending action plan
Conducting safety induction training for company as well as contractual manpower; conducting safety awareness session for contractor supervisor
Statutory compliance:
To monitor statutory compliance requirements pertaining to safety rules and regulations
Organize safety committee meetings
Organize inspection, testing & certification of equipments as per safety norms, e.g., lift, hoists, cranes, pressure vessels & lifting tools-tackles etc.
Organize inspection, testing & certification of structural stability by Govt. recognized competent person.
Organize reports of accidents and send concern authority.
Conduct mock drills to check emergency preparedness Updating Onsite emergency plan according to the site requirement and submission to concerned authority Organizing 3rd party safety audit once in every two years through govt. certified auditors
Liaising with DISH authorities for coordinating their site visit, Approval of drawings and any other matter related to safety
Display of sign boards
ISO 45001:2018 (OHSMS), Development review & improvement of system to achieve high standards of safety
Ensure that unit has carried out study of each processes to identify activities, assessment of risk involve & to prevent all hazards while carrying out the process. SOPs are made available. Ensuring that appropriate HIRA/JSA are done for plant activity. Action plan for effective implementation of ISO 45001:2018 (OHSMS), Co-ordination with various departments. Development of safety systems, Regular audits, review and improvement.
Safety System strengthening;
Apex safety committee and facilitating Seven sub-committees;
Coordinating site Apex safety committee meeting and follow up for action to be taken;
Participating in safety subcommittees meeting and working as a catalyst for their effective functioning; Coordinating with audit team for site visit and interaction with various site safety subcommittees & site safety system by facilitation with all departments and carry out safety audit/ site visits.
People Development:
Development of subordinates
Provide coaching and guidance to subordinates ,subordinates development through cross functional projects/ assignments
Organizing inter unit site safety visit, sending them in safety professional work shop/training Guiding and supporting them for taking recognized safety professional diploma/degree/certificates
