Highway Design Engineer

Role & responsibilities

We are seeking a Highway Design Engineer to join our engineering team. The role involves designing, planning, and implementing highway projects in compliance with national and international standards. The ideal candidate will contribute to delivering cost-effective, sustainable, and efficient highway designs that ensure safety, functionality, and environmental compatibility.

• Design Development:
  
• Create and optimize highway layouts, geometric alignments, and cross-sections using design software.
• Develop detailed engineering designs for interchanges, intersections, and road improvements.
• Conduct traffic analysis and incorporate findings into design proposals.
• Compliance and Standards:
  
• Ensure designs adhere to IRC, AASHTO, or relevant design codes and guidelines.
• Conduct quality checks and reviews for accuracy and compliance with project specifications.
• Software Proficiency:
  
• Utilize design tools such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, MX Road, InfraWorks, or similar platforms.
• Use traffic simulation and pavement design software for advanced analysis.
• Interdisciplinary Collaboration:
  
• Work with geotechnical, drainage, and structural teams for integrated project designs.
• Coordinate with survey teams to interpret and incorporate topographic data into designs.
• Project Management Support:
  
• Assist in preparing technical reports, cost estimates, and bill of quantities (BOQ).
• Support project managers in client interactions and presentations of design concepts.
• Site Support:
  
• Visit project sites to gather data, resolve design-related issues, and ensure proper implementation.

Preferred candidate profile -

• 3 to 7 years of experience in highway design.
• Proficient in highway design tools (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, MX Road).
• Strong understanding of geometric design principles and traffic flow management.
• Familiarity with IRC, AASHTO, and other relevant standards.
• Knowledge of material specifications, cost estimation, and quantity takeoffs.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
