Head - Cell Laboratory - Fabrication & Testing - Li-ion Cells (15-20 yrs)

We are looking to fill the position of a Cell Laboratory Head focusing on fabrication and testing of Li-ion cells for validation of synthetic graphite and other specialized anode materials. She/he will also serve as the technical bridge between the company and customers, aligning the technical requirements and expectations of Li-ion cell manufacturers with client's product offerings and vice versa.

Responsibilities :

- Oversee all lab operations for Li-ion cell fabrication and testing, ensuring compliance with industry standards.

- Develop and implement protocols for Li-ion cell preparation, assembly, and performance testing for various cell formats, including coin, pouch & cylindrical cells, with precision control over materials and fabrication processes.

- Development and optimization of the procedure for electrode preparation and cell fabrication.

- Development of standardized procedure for cell testing on battery cyclers (capacity, efficiency, cycle life, c-rate capability)

- Benchmarking of commercially available anode materials via cell testing and physical characterization including comparison of performance with internally produced samples

- Develop advanced materials and work on all kind of cell chemistries. Collaborate with R&D teams to optimize synthetic graphite and anode material performance in energy storage applications.

- Characterization of novel graphite derivate materials (graphene, carbon nanotubes)

- Desktop study on industry trends, adapting new testing methods and technologies for improved cell performance.

- Present findings and project updates to the MD, ensuring alignment on goals and progress.

Customer Responsibilities:

- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clients in the Li-ion cell industry, leveraging a solid network to identify potential customers and partnerships.

- Understand customer requirements and technical specifications to provide tailored solutions and effectively communicate the value of client's anode materials and related products.

- Collaborate with the R&D and production teams to align customer needs with product development, ensuring solutions meet evolving market demands.

- Lead presentations, technical workshops, and product demonstrations, positioning client's offerings as cutting-edge solutions within the Li-ion battery market.

Desired Skills:

- Knowledge and hands-on experience with fabrication of coin cells, pouch and cylindrical cells and in-depth understanding of testing protocols and equipment for performance and safety evaluation.

- Strong knowledge of Li-ion battery chemistry, particularly in anode materials such as synthetic graphite and silicon-graphite anode.

- In-depth understanding of cell testing equipment and procedures. Skilled in data analysis, with experience using analytical software (e.g. MATLAB) for interpreting and presenting results.

- Strong problem-solving abilities to identify and troubleshoot issues in cell fabrication and testing.

- Good understanding of physical characterization techniques (SEM, XRD, PSD, Tap density, ICP)

- Highly detail-oriented with a commitment to maintaining accurate records, ensuring data integrity, and achieving consistent results.

- Proficiency in MS-Word, Excel and PowerPoint

- Ability to work and thrive in a fast paced environment

- Good communication skills and ability to work in a diverse technical team

- Previous work experience of 10 -15 years

- Knowledge and experience with Sodium ion cells will be beneficial

Educational qualifications:

Ph.D. or Master's degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Electrochemistry, or a related field with a focus on battery technology or advanced materials.
