Business Analyst - Product Development

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst to join our Product Engineering team in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry. This role will focus on analyzing business needs, supporting product strategy, and driving innovation to improve our product offerings. The successful candidate will work closely with stakeholders across design, engineering, construction, and operations teams to deliver products that align with customer needs and industry trends.

Key Responsibilities:

• Business Requirements Analysis:
• Gather, document, and analyze business requirements related to new product development and product enhancements.
• Translate customer needs and business objectives into functional specifications for product development.
• Perform gap analysis to identify potential areas for product improvement or new product opportunities.
• Product Lifecycle Management:
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., design, engineering, and architect teams) to ensure product development milestones are met.
• Define and manage product features, prioritize backlogs, and support product roadmap planning.
• Contribute to the product design process by ensuring all requirements and specifications align with client needs and industry standards.
• Stakeholder Communication:
• Serve as the liaison between stakeholders, including internal teams, external clients, and vendors, to ensure alignment on business goals and technical requirements.
• Organize and facilitate stakeholder workshops and meetings to gather input, align on product vision, and provide updates on progress.
• Develop and present business cases to senior leadership for new product initiatives or enhancements.
• Data Analysis & Reporting:
• Leverage data analytics to identify trends, risks, and opportunities related to the product development process.
• Create detailed reports, dashboards, and visualizations for stakeholders, providing actionable insights for decision-making.
• Monitor the performance of existing products and recommend improvements based on user feedback, analytics, and industry trends.
• Industry & Market Research:
• Conduct market research to understand customer pain points, emerging trends, and competitor offerings in the AEC space.
• Stay up-to-date with industry best practices, technological advancements, and regulatory requirements impacting the AEC sector.
• Process Improvement:
• Evaluate and streamline product development processes to enhance efficiency and reduce time to market.
• Support the development of product documentation, including user guides, training materials, and release notes.

Required Qualifications:

• Education:
• Bachelor's degree in business administration, Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field. A master's degree is a plus.
• Experience:
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Business Analyst with exposure to product development or software solutions. Experience in the AEC industry is preferred.
• Demonstrated experience with business process mapping, requirements gathering, and product lifecycle management.
• Strong understanding of the AEC industry, including design, engineering, and construction workflows, and familiarity with relevant software tools (e.g., BIM, ERP, project management tools).
• Prior experience working with product teams in a technical environment is highly desirable.
• Skills & Competencies:
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and concisely.
• Familiarity with Agile or Scrum methodologies, with the ability to manage product backlogs and sprints.
• Proficient in data analysis tools (Excel, Power BI, Tableau) and creating business intelligence reports.
• Knowledge of product management, user experience design, and market research techniques.
• Experience in managing stakeholder relationships and facilitating cross-functional collaboration.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification in Business Analysis (e.g., CBAP, CCBA) or Product Management (e.g., Scrum Product Owner, AIPMM) is a plus.
• Experience with AEC-specific technologies or software (e.g., Autodesk, Revit, Procore, Bluebeam, etc.).
• Knowledge of construction project management processes and industry regulations.
